Love So Nowhere

I looked in two eyes
There I saw the sky
Black with stars
Shrivelling light-years away
Where time has ended
Like a dreamer awakened
Suspended in cosmic fermata
Stars so distant
That behind their dull refraction
Stimulating our small, myopic eyes
Is a cold so heavy
A deep so dark
Love so nowhere
And empty so death.

In these eyes I looked and fell,
Into the sky, searching the black,
I fell so fool and fell so slow
And fell into an answer so no.
I could no longer speak, or hear, or scream.
So now, in absence of sense
(With nothing so real
From touching so much
And nothing to feel)
I sleep awake in emptiness:
Floating and frozen
Upon an odor as thin
As flakes of skin,
A motion so not
An empty so me
Sleep, sleep!
And nothing to be.
As quiet as a withered tongue,
Unobtrusive and silent
As the falling of hair.
